I first began studying fine art and graphic design in the Fall of 2000 at St. Louis Community College in Florissant, Missouri. Two years later, I transferred to Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri. After 3 years of fine art courses
(i.e., drawing, painting, photography... etc.), graphic design courses, and a variety of web design & development courses, I graduated from Webster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Minor in Web Site Development in May 2005. After a couple of years of part-time and contract graphic & web design work, I now work as a web designer for Elsevier, Inc. in their Creative Services department.
After years of studying and working in the field as both a print and web designer, I prefer and am most comfortable in web. I love being able to make my designs come alive and I feel that web design can do just that! The web is forever changing and I love learning new things so it's a perfect match. Also, my experience as a print designer, I believe, helps me be a better web designer because I not only know the technical side of things (i.e - HTML), but I have that designer's eye as well, I know what colors work well together and if the design on the page, overall, is working.
